Fr. Mathew Alakalam (1888-1977) and Fr. Joseph Paredom (1887-1972), two brilliant and saintly sons of the Syro-Malabar Church, are the founders of our Congregation. In God's plan, while the idea of a new religious congregation originally took shape in Fr. Alakalam, his companion Fr. Paredom co-operated with him and nurtured it like a tender plant.

The personality of Fr. Mathew Alakalam stands out like that of Prophet John the Baptist who was no "reed shaken by the wind" (Luke7,24). He was a man of austere life and ardent zeal for souls, and was attuned to the voice of the Spirit.

As a mystic of the Eucharist, he often exclaimed in joy and wonder ".. praised be through the hymns the Most Holy Mystery of the Eucharist full of goodness and glory. Let there be worship and glory to the Most Blessed Sacrament….. as innumerable times as there are stars in the heaven and clouds in the sky".

Father Joseph Paredom reminds us of St John, the disciple at the bosom of Jesus in the Upper Chamber (John 13, 25). Like a branch united to the vine ( John 15,5) he experienced God's love and intimacy in a special way in the Holy Eucharist.

This is clear from his word : "How lovely to dwell in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament! What can there be more blissful! Oh! What a life can there be more joyful than this! That is what God has given us". He was a good shepherd who won hearts by his love and gentleness.

Convinced that a life cannot be fully Eucharistic unless it is consecrated to both God and His people, our founders left us an example of God-experience and zealous apostolic action. They have given us, in a manner proper to themselves, a glimpse of the beauty of religious commitment for a Eucharistic and missionary life.

And they remain our constant source of inspiration.
